Qualifications

Your pay tier is tied to your level on the South Carolina Career Ladder, which reflects your education and experience in early childhood. Not sure of your level? The PCC team can help you figure out where you land.

Background Checks

You must complete a background check and fingerprinting before your application can be approved. This is standard across the field and keeps children safe.

References

You will need to provide three references as part of your application.

Health Documentation

You will need to complete a Health Assessment with a physician and a TB test. The documentation required includes these items along with anything else outlined in your application checklist.

Training

Pop-Ins are required to complete the 15 hour Health and Safety Pre-Service trainings online through Pro Solutions. The PCC system will guide you through it. Everyone working in childcare is also required to complete 15 hours of training every year.

Do I need childcare experience?

No, you do not need childcare experience to become a Pop-In. Education and experience determine your Career Ladder level and pay tier. Create your account and the PCC team will help you understand where you fit.

Can I choose when I work?

Yes. You set the days and times you are available, and you are never obligated to accept every shift. Pick the opportunities that fit your schedule.

How much will I earn?

Pay ranges from $14.50 to $17.50 per hour depending on your South Carolina Career Ladder level. See the pay tiers above for the full breakdown.

What training is required?

Pop-Ins complete the 15 hour Health and Safety Pre-Service trainings online through Pro Solutions before they can be approved. The PCC system will guide you through it. Once you are working, everyone in childcare needs 15 hours of training every year.

What documents do I need?

Plan for a background check and fingerprinting, three references, and health documentation, along with your application. All of the forms and links to complete the compliance section of the application are available to download on the platform, and your checklist will spell out each item so nothing is a surprise.

How long does approval take?

The application itself should take no more than 30 minutes. Background checks and fingerprinting can take upwards of 2 to 3 weeks to come back, so the quicker you complete the compliance steps, the quicker you can start accepting shifts.

Where will I work?

PCC is currently open to programs in Anderson, Greenville, and Marlboro Counties. We will open to more counties over the next year.

Who pays me?

You are paid by the center you work for. On your first visit you must be added to payroll, so come prepared with your license and Social Security number to get set up.
